Fish and Chips
Ingredients:
500g fish fillets (cod or haddock)
2 potatoes
200g all-purpose flour
100g cornstarch
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
Water, as needed
Oil, as needed
Steps:
Peel and cut the potatoes into thin fries. Soak them in cold water for 10 minutes to remove excess starch, then drain and pat dry.
Cut the fish fillets into 5-6cm strips.
In a bowl, mix the flour, cornstarch, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add water, stirring until a smooth batter forms.
Dip the fish strips in the batter to coat evenly.
Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Fry the fish strips until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes.
Remove the fish from the oil with a slotted spoon and drain excess oil on paper towels.
Fry the potato fries until golden brown, about 5-6 minutes, and drain on paper towels.
Serve the fish and chips with tartar sauce or ketchup.
