French Fry
Ingredients:
4 large potatoes, peeled and cut into thin, uniform strips
1 quart of vegetable oil for frying
Salt, to taste
Instructions:
Soak the potato strips in cold water for at least 30 minutes. This will remove excess starch and help the fries crisp up.
Heat the oil in a large, heavy-bottomed pot over medium-high heat until it reaches 375°F (190°C).
Drain the potato strips and pat them dry with paper towels.
Carefully add a handful of potato strips to the hot oil, making sure not to overcrowd the pot. Fry for about 5-6 minutes, or until the fries are golden brown and crispy.
Using a slotted spoon, remove the fries from the pot and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil. Sprinkle with salt to taste.
Repeat steps 4-5 until all of the potato strips are fried.
Serve immediately and enjoy!
Note: Be sure to use caution when frying with hot oil. Keep a close eye on the pot at all times and use a slotted spoon to safely remove the fries from the oil.
